Portia is a genus of jumping spiders found across Africa, Asia, Australia and other parts of the tropics and subtropics, unusual among spiders for hunting other spiders as its primary prey rather than insects. It displays problem-solving behavior remarkable for an animal with such a small nervous system, using trial-and-error detours around obstacles and deceptive vibrations mimicking a trapped insect or a rival spider to lure its prey out of its own web before striking.
