The red-backed shrike (Lanius collurio) is a carnivorous passerine bird in the shrike family Laniidae, breeding from Western Europe east to central Russia and wintering in eastern tropical and southern Africa. It is assessed as Least Concern overall by the IUCN, though some parts of its range have seen steep declines, making its status locally less secure.
