Red-eared Slider

The red-eared slider, or red-eared terrapin, is a subspecies of the pond slider turtle native to the southern United States and extreme northern Mexico. Popular worldwide as a pet and the most commonly traded turtle in the world, it has become established outside its native range through pet releases and now outcompetes native species in many places, earning it a place on the list of the world's hundred worst invasive species and making it the most invasive turtle of any kind.
