The roseate spoonbill is a social wading bird of the ibis and spoonbill family, Threskiornithidae, and a resident breeder in both South and North America. Its pink coloring is diet-derived, coming from the carotenoid pigment canthaxanthin, the same pigment source used by the American flamingo.
