Tropheus moorii, known as the blunthead cichlid, is a species of cichlid endemic to Lake Tanganyika in Africa. More than forty different color morphs of the species are dispersed throughout the lake, ranging from dark green to flame red and yellow, and it mostly feeds on filamentous algae on the rocky shallows it inhabits. It is a maternal mouthbrooder, with eggs fertilized and young carried in the female's mouth while they hatch and develop.
