The tui is a medium-sized bird native to New Zealand, with dark iridescent plumage and a distinctive tuft of white feathers at its throat. It is an endemic passerine and the only species in the genus Prosthemadera, and is one of the largest members of the honeyeater family found in the region. The bird is found across a wide range of habitats throughout the islands of New Zealand.
