Walking Catfish

The walking catfish is a freshwater, air-breathing catfish native to Southeast Asia, named for its ability to wiggle its way across dry land using its pectoral fins and a snakelike motion of its body to reach new water when its slow-moving ponds, swamps or rice paddies dry up. It can survive as long as eighteen hours out of water, and is distinguished from similar-looking North American catfish partly by its lack of an adipose fin.
