Hard Fern

Ferns and Fern Allies

Hard Fern, also called deer fern, is a fern species in the family Blechnaceae, now placed in the genus Struthiopteris after long being known as Blechnum spicant. It produces two visibly different kinds of fronds on the same plant, sterile and fertile, rather than one uniform frond type.
