The whiteleg shrimp, Penaeus vannamei (also known by the synonym Litopenaeus vannamei), is a species of prawn native to the eastern Pacific Ocean, also known as Pacific white shrimp, king prawn or white shrimp. It is commonly caught or farmed for food.
