Enteropneusta, the acorn worms, is a class of hemichordate invertebrates whose closest non hemichordate relatives are the echinoderms. There are 111 known species, with Saccoglossus kowalevskii serving as the primary research species; its two constituent families, Harrimaniidae and Ptychoderidae, are thought to have separated at least 370 million years ago.
