Gammaproteobacteria is a class of bacteria within the phylum Pseudomonadota. It contains roughly 250 genera, making it the most genus-rich class among the prokaryotes, and includes several medically, ecologically and scientifically important groups. All known members are Gram-negative, and the class is considered the most phylogenetically and physiologically diverse within Pseudomonadota.
