Gymnolaemata is a class of bryozoans, mostly marine and sessile, that grow on the surfaces of rocks, kelp, and in some cases other animals such as fish. Their feeding tentacle crown, the lophophore, is extended by muscles pulling on the front wall of the body. The class includes the majority of living bryozoan species.
