Kinetofragminophora is a class of ciliates, phylum Ciliophora, single-celled organisms covered in hair-like cilia, established by de Puytorac and colleagues in 1974. The class historically included the orders Apostomatida, Plagiopylida, Suctorida, and Trichostomatida, and was further divided into the subclasses Gymnostomata, Hypostomata, and Vestibulifera. The World Register of Marine Species has since indicated it will discontinue this classification, and Kinetofragminophora is now regarded as an obsolete taxonomic grouping in modern ciliate systematics.
