Pauropoda is a class of small, pale, millipede like arthropods in the subphylum Myriapoda. More than nine hundred species across twelve families are known, living in soil and leaf mold worldwide. Pauropods resemble centipedes or millipedes and may be a sister group to millipedes, though a close relationship to Symphyla has also been proposed; most species have only nine pairs of legs as adults, fewer than any other class of myriapod.
