Symphyla is a class of small, soil dwelling arthropods in the subphylum Myriapoda, whose members are called symphylans, garden centipedes, or pseudocentipedes. They resemble centipedes but are far smaller and non venomous, and it remains unsettled whether they form a true clade with centipedes. More than two hundred species are known worldwide.
