Alligatoridae is a family of crocodilians that includes alligators, caimans and their extinct relatives, comprising eight living species, two alligators in the subfamily Alligatorinae and six caimans in Caimaninae. The two alligator species are geographically separated, one native to the southeastern United States and the other to China's Yangtze River, while the caimans are found throughout Central and South America.
