Cleridae

Cleridae is a family of beetles in the order Coleoptera, commonly known as checkered beetles, found worldwide across a wide variety of habitats. Most genera are predatory, feeding on other beetles and their larvae, while some genera are instead scavengers or feed on pollen. Checkered beetles have elongated, bristly-haired bodies that are usually brightly colored, with variable antennae, and typically range from 3 to 24 millimeters in length. Females lay 28 to 42 eggs at a time, usually under tree bark, and the predatory larvae feed vigorously before pupating; a few species are minor pests of stored food products.
