Curculionidae is a family of beetles in the order Coleoptera, commonly called weevils, snout beetles or true weevils. It is the largest animal family, with roughly 6,000 genera and about 77,000 described species worldwide. Most weevils feed on plants as both larvae and adults, and many are significant agricultural pests. The family is marked by a long downward curved snout, or rostrum, and elbowed antennae ending in clubs, and includes bark beetles and ambrosia beetles as subfamilies once treated as separate families.
