Cybocephalidae is a family of sap, bark, and fungus feeding beetles with a wide global distribution and about 220 described species across 17 genera, more than 200 of them in the genus Cybocephalus alone. These small, 1 to 3 millimeter beetles are convex, shiny, and capable of rolling into a ball with the head tucked downward; many species prey on armored scale insects. The family is sometimes classified instead as a subfamily of Nitidulidae.
