Dermatemydidae is a family of turtles named by John Edward Gray in 1870, today represented by a single living genus, Dermatemys, the Central American river turtle, found in Central America. The family also includes several extinct genera, among them Baptemys, Gomphochelys and Notomorpha, and its fossil record extends back to the Late Cretaceous.
