Gerrhopilidae, known as the Indo-Malayan blindsnakes, is a family established in 2010 by Vidal, Wynn, Donnellan and Hedges after genetic work showed its members to be a distinct lineage separate from family Typhlopidae, within which they had previously been classified. The family contains at least sixteen species in the genus Gerrhopilus, along with the genus Cathetorhinus and a disputed species variously assigned as Malayotyphlops manilae, Gerrhopilus manilae or Typhlops manilae. Gerrhopilid blindsnakes range across South and Southeast Asia, including India and the Andaman Islands, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
