Helotidae

Helotidae is a family of beetles in the suborder Polyphaga with about five living genera, including Helota, Neohelota, Afrohelotina, Metahelotella, and Strophohelota, found mainly in the tropical Old World but absent from Australia and Madagascar. Members have antennal clubs of three segments that retract into grooves beneath the head and reduced wing venation with only four anal veins, associate with sap, fruit, and flowers, and some larvae bore into wood to pupate. The family fossil record runs from the Aptian stage of the Early Cretaceous to the present.
