Hoplocercidae is a family of lizards native to the tropical forests, woodlands and savanna-like habitats of Central and South America, comprising two genera, Enyalioides with 19 species and the monotypic Hoplocercus, whose sole species is the spiny weapontail. Established by Frost and Etheridge in 1989, the family belongs to the infraorder Pleurodonta within the iguanian lizards.
