Nitidulidae

Nitidulidae, commonly known as sap beetles, is a family of beetles in the order Coleoptera. They are small, 2 to 6 millimeters long, ovoid and usually dull-colored, with knobbed antennae, and some species bear red or yellow spots or bands. Sap beetles feed mainly on decaying vegetable matter, over-ripe fruit and sap, and some species live in association with fungi on coniferous trees across Europe and Siberia, while others, such as an Australian species that feeds on scale insects, have different habits. A few species, including the strawberry sap beetle, are pests of fruit crops.
