Opluridae, the Madagascan iguanas, is a family of moderately sized lizards native to Madagascar and Grande Comore, comprising two genera, Chalarodon and the more diverse Oplurus, with eight recognized species in all. Chalarodon has a dorsal crest, especially in males, and smooth uniform tail scales, while Oplurus has large spiny segmented scales and no dorsal crest. Both are egg-laying, and the family is one of the few Pleurodonta groups found outside the Americas.
