Phalacridae, the shining flower beetles, is a family of small, oval, usually tan beetles about 2 millimeters long, with roughly 638 described species across 52 genera found worldwide. Most feed on fungus while some feed on the heads of composite flowers, and the oldest known fossil, from the Albian stage of the Early Cretaceous, comes from Spanish amber.
