Pygopodidae

Pygopodidae, commonly called flap-footed lizards or snake-lizards, is a family of legless lizards belonging to the gecko infraorder Gekkota, native to Australia and New Guinea. The family comprises eight genera in two subfamilies and forty seven species, with elongated, slender bodies that closely resemble snakes. Unlike snakes, pygopodids retain small flattened flaps in place of hind limbs, have external ear openings, lack a forked tongue and possess no eyelids. The family includes the genera Lialis, Delma, Paradelma, Pygopus, Ophidiocephalus, Aprasia and Pletholax.
