Pythonidae

Pythonidae is a family of non venomous snakes found across Africa, Asia and Australia, currently comprising ten genera and 39 species. Pythons kill by constriction, striking and holding prey with their teeth before coiling around it and suffocating it. They lay eggs rather than bearing live young, unlike most boas, and most species have premaxillary teeth, the Australian genus Aspidites being a notable exception; many also carry heat-sensing pits along the jaw. The family includes some of the largest living snakes, capable of taking prey as large as deer, and pythons are native to tropical and subtropical regions though invasive populations have become established in Florida and Puerto Rico.
