Smicripidae, the palmetto beetles, is a family in the superfamily Cucujoidea with one living genus, Smicrips, containing six described species in the tropical and subtropical Americas, plus an extinct genus, Mesosmicrips, known from Eocene Europe and Cretaceous Burmese amber. Larvae live in decaying vegetation while adults are typically found on flower clusters, especially of palms, though also on legumes, passionflowers, bombax, and cacti; their diet has not been directly observed.
