Xenodermidae

Xenodermidae is a family of snakes within the clade Colubroides, comprising six genera: Achalinus, Fimbrios, Parafimbrios, Paraxenodermus, Stoliczkia and Xenodermus. Members are native to East Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia. They are small to moderately sized, never more than about 80 centimeters and typically under 55 centimeters, secretive and likely nocturnal, living in moist forest habitat as opportunistic carnivores that prey on other small vertebrates. The family sits near the base of the colubroid radiation, though its exact relationship to other colubroid families remains unsettled.
