Agrostis is a large and nearly cosmopolitan genus of grasses, family Poaceae, subfamily Pooideae, tribe Poeae, commonly called bent or bentgrass, found in nearly all countries of the world. As of May 2024, Plants of the World Online accepted over 370 species, with the type species being Agrostis canina; the genus name and common name relate to its typically fine, spreading growth habit, and several species are widely used for turf, including golf course putting greens, owing to their fine leaf texture and tolerance of close mowing.
