Curviacus

Curviacus is a genus of Ediacaran-period organism of uncertain biological lineage, notable for a modular body plan made up of a series of crescent-shaped chambers. It contains a single species, Curviacus ediacaranus, described in 2017 from the Shibantan Member of the Dengying Formation in the Yangtze Gorges area of South China, dating to the late Ediacaran, roughly 551 to 541 million years ago. Specimens measured five to fourteen centimeters long, and the fossil is notable as the only member of the informal group Palaeopascichnida reported from carbonate rock rather than siliciclastic rock, which allowed researchers to study its three-dimensional structure.
