Opuntia, commonly called the prickly pear cactus, is a genus of flowering plants in the cactus family Cactaceae, subfamily Opuntioideae, tribe Opuntieae, many species known for their flavorful fruit and showy flowers. Common names for its parts include tuna for the fruit, and nopal, sabra or sabbar for the pads, which are also called paddle cactus.
