Rana

Rana is a genus of frogs commonly known as the Holarctic true frogs, pond frogs or brown frogs, found through much of Eurasia and western North America; many other genera were formerly included within it. These true frogs are usually largish species characterized by slim waists and wrinkled skin, many with thin ridges running along their backs, but generally lacking the warts typical of toads. They are excellent jumpers owing to their long, slender legs, and the webbing on their hind feet allows easy movement through water; coloration is mostly greens and browns above, with darker and yellowish spots.
