Bacillati is a proposed prokaryotic kingdom within the domain Bacteria, containing approximately two thirds of prokaryote species, including the gram-positive phyla as well as the phyla Cyanobacteriota and Chloroflexota. It was originally proposed under the name Terrabacteria, reflecting adaptations shared by its members for life on land, such as resistance to environmental hazards and, in some lineages, oxygenic photosynthesis.
