Asterales is an order of dicotyledonous flowering plants that includes the large daisy family Asteraceae, also called Compositae, known for composite flowerheads made of many small florets, along with ten related families. The order holds 11 families in total; Asteraceae is by far the largest with about 25,000 species, followed by the bellflower family Campanulaceae with roughly 2,000 species, while the remaining nine families together account for fewer than 1,500 species.
