Chloranthales is an order of flowering plants containing a single family, Chloranthaceae, an early-diverging lineage of angiosperms that belongs to neither the eudicots nor the monocots. The family comprises four living genera, Ascarina, Chloranthus, Hedyosmum, and Sarcandra, totaling approximately 77 known species distributed across Southeast Asia, the Pacific, Madagascar, and the Americas. Chloranthaceae carries one of the oldest fossil pollen records among flowering plants, extending back to the Early Cretaceous.
