Ericales is a large and diverse order of flowering plants within the asterid group of eudicots, containing 22 families and more than 8,000 species under the APG IV system. Its economically significant members include tea, camellias, persimmons, ebony, blueberries, cranberries, kiwifruit, Brazil nuts, and ornamental azaleas and rhododendrons. The order includes trees, shrubs, lianas, and herbaceous plants, as well as unusual specialists such as chlorophyll-deficient mycoheterotrophs and carnivorous species.
