Fabales is an order of flowering plants in the rosid group of eudicots, comprising four families: Fabaceae, the legumes, along with Quillajaceae, Polygalaceae, the milkworts, and Surianaceae. Fabaceae, divided into the subfamilies Caesalpinioideae, Mimosoideae and Faboideae, is the third-largest plant family in the world and accounts for the great majority of the order's diversity.
