Garryales is a small order of dicotyledons within the asterids, comprising only two families and three genera: Garryaceae, containing Garrya and Aucuba, and Eucommiaceae, containing the single genus Eucommia. Garryaceae members are evergreen while Eucommia is deciduous and produces latex, and all are dioecious, bearing male and female flowers on separate plants. Garrya occurs in southern and western North America, Aucuba throughout eastern Asia, and Eucommia is native to China, with several species cultivated for ornamental purposes.
