Santalales

Santalales is an order of eudicot flowering plants with a cosmopolitan distribution concentrated in tropical and subtropical regions, taking its name from the sandalwood genus Santalum and comprising seven families under the traditionally used classification, including Santalaceae, Loranthaceae, and Balanophoraceae. Its well-known members include sandalwoods and mistletoes, many of them hemiparasites that photosynthesize their own sugars while drawing water and minerals from the roots or stems of other plants. Most species in the order produce unusual seeds that lack a seed coat.
