Schizomida is the order of short-tailed whip scorpions, sometimes called sprickets, generally less than 5 millimeters long and living in leaf litter and caves through subtropical and tropical regions worldwide as active predators. About 300 species are described across three families; the family Hubbardiidae dominates with at least 76 genera and over 275 species, while Protoschizomidae holds only 2 genera and 15 species.
