Gnathostomulida is a phylum of minute, thread-like marine worms that live in the oxygen-poor spaces between grains of sand and mud. The phylum is named for the distinctive paired jaws most species use to scrape bacteria and fungi from sediment particles, and all known species are simultaneous hermaphrodites.
