Micrognathozoa is a phylum established in the year 2000 for a single known genus, Limnognathia, minute freshwater animals first discovered in a cold spring on Disko Island off the coast of Greenland. Its members carry an unusually complex jaw apparatus for their tiny size, which gave the phylum its name.
