Placozoa is a phylum of extremely simple, flat marine animals only a few millimeters across, moving and feeding somewhat like a giant amoeba. Placozoans lack any fixed body symmetry, distinct organs, or a nervous system, and are counted among the structurally simplest animals known. Trichoplax is the phylum most studied genus.
