The two toed amphiuma is an eel like aquatic salamander of the southeastern United States, family Amphiumidae, with an elongated body and four tiny limbs, each bearing only two toes, that are nearly useless for locomotion. It lives hidden in mud, swamps, and slow moving water, feeds mostly at night, and can deliver a surprisingly strong bite if handled.
