Alaudidae

Larks, family Alaudidae, are small to medium-sized passerine birds ranging from 12 to 24 centimeters long. The family contains 98 living species in 24 genera and has a cosmopolitan distribution, with the largest number of species found in Africa. Only the horned lark reaches North America and only Horsfield's bush lark is native to Australia, and many species favor drier, open habitats. The Eurasian skylark is the species most commonly meant when the word lark is used without qualification.
