It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, in the Orinoco River basin and the western Amazon basin, inhabiting tropical moist lowland forest and woodland as well as lower Andean foothills, and it is largely frugivorous.
