The gilded barbet, Capito auratus, is a species of bird in the family Capitonidae, the New World barbets, and a close relative of the toucans. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela, in the Orinoco River basin and the western Amazon basin, inhabiting tropical moist lowland forest and woodland as well as lower Andean foothills, and it is largely frugivorous.
