The tasselled wobbegong, scientific name Eucrossorhinus dasypogon, is a carpet shark in the family Orectolobidae and the sole living member of its genus; its species name is Greek for hairy beard and its genus name means well-tasseled nose. It inhabits shallow coral reefs on Australia's continental shelf from Ningaloo Reef to Bundaberg, as well as waters around New Guinea, Waigeo and the Aru Islands, typically from the intertidal zone to about 50 meters, resting in caves or under ledges by day. Reaching about 1.8 meters long, it has a broad, flattened body and head fringed with branching dermal flaps extending onto the chin, and a mosaic of small dark blotches and lines on a gray or yellow-brown background that camouflages it against the reef. It lures prey by waving its tail to mimic a small fish. This description is adapted from Wikipedia contributors under CC BY-SA 4.0; changes were made. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/
